How to Train a Husky to Not Jump on You

Training Your Husky not to Jump on you or other people Is like a two way process that involves you, Your Husky and people who visit your home like your neighbour, friends and colleges.

In This training we will discuss three simple methods which you can try at your home easily.

Method 1- Ignore Attention Seeking Jump

In this method we will discuss how you can break the habit of  jumping when you meet your husky.

This attention seeking behaviour can be changed by regular exercise of your husky and mental stimulation during the day .

The exercise process consists of taking your husky for a walk in the morning or evening and playing with them in the park by providing some funny chewable toys or balls. This process ensures the mental stability of your husky and they feel better in the day.

After all the exercises, if your husky still jumps on you then you can simply follow these processes

Step 1- To give zero attention when your husky starts jumping on you by turn and runs away from your dog.

By this time if you are giving any command to your husky then it encourages them and they are more likely to jump due to Excitement.

Step 2- After a few seconds, go to your husky and greet and observe how your husky reacts. If your husky remains calm then reward them and if they start jumping again then follow the first step and walk away by saying anything.

Practice these methods several times , it will help your husky to understand the behaviour and the activity to learn not to Jump anymore because it has no reaction from the owner ‘s side.

Method 2 – Ignore Excited Jumping

Huskies are very exciting dogs and start jumping on you when you come home from the office or from Market. So how can you ignore this type of excited jumping ? Follow these simple steps

Step 1- When you come to your home from the office your husky will be excited to see you and after opening the door if your husky starts jumping then close the door and wait outside. The goal is to have a calm greeting at the time of meeting after coming back from Outside.

Step 2 – After 30 seconds again open the door and give a Sit command Once. If your husky still starts jumping then close the door again and wait Outside.

Step 3 – Again Open the door after Some time and observe the behaviour. If your husky starts jumping then again close the door. This process will send a signal to your husky to not Jump anymore as it won’t work.

The repetition of this method may take some days, don’t worry about it as training a dog to completely change their behaviour is not quite an easy job though.

Step 4 –Slowly open the door If your husky didn’t Jump and sit or sit down with Sit Command after following the above steps, then award your husky. This will help your husky to understand not to be excited during the meet.
